The days of the old contrast dial and on/off switch are now over. Cutting your system's case and installing manual dials are no longer needed with the new Front Light Dimmer Chip. Compatible with the GameBoy Color and Neo Geo Pocket Color, the dimmer chip gives you digital control of 8 brightness levels of your front light with the touch of a simple combination of buttons.
The dimmer chip is highly recommended as it actually simplifies the installation of our front light kit by avoiding case cutting and fitting of an external switch. Also, the 5 wires are easily soldered to large test points on both the GBC and the NGPC boards. Unfortunately the dimmer chip is not compatible with the SwanCrystal as its buttons use a differential voltage method, making it a lot harder to interface with an external chip. Nevertheless, the dimmer's are sure hit with the GBC and NGPC. You can purchase it individually, order it with your front light installation, or add it as an option to your kit.
